Meet Bonnie Dodge, Perfectly Post Rockstar!

Meet Bonnie Dodge, Perfectly Post Rockstar!

Meet Bonnie, a Perfectly Posh Rockstar!

I had the opportunity many years ago to meet Bonnie and can remember when she first got involved with this company that was all about pampering yourself. I mean, who can’t fall in love with a little pampering…not to mention, the products are AMAZING if you haven’t tried them yet. It has been super cool to watch Bonnie start as an independent contractor, to building her team to over 16,000 members, to being recognized as one the very best in Perfectly Posh, so when I think about all of the members of Sassy Girl Community and The Startup Circle who are in multi-level marketing, I had to share this energetic and beautiful chic with the world.

How did you get involved in Perfectly Posh?

I will always remember the date, October 6, 2011. I just turned 40 a few days earlier and was starting to get into the “40 year old funk”. A friend of mine who initially introduced me to direct sales the previous year and worked with me in a different DS company, sent me a couple text messages in the wee hours of the morning “are you up yet?!” “you’ve got to check out this new company I just found, I think you’re going to love it!” Now anyone who knows this friend of mine knows that she’s not a morning person. So when I woke up to her messages I knew that whatever she found must be a big deal.

I jumped out of bed, got my kiddos on the school bus and sat down at my computer. The instant I pulled up the Perfectly Posh website I was entranced by the beautiful layout displaying products that were fun and unique . The founder of the company was telling you that life is busy, take a few moments for yourself, lock yourself in the bathroom and pamper yourself, you deserve it.

Boy was she right! As a single mom raising 4 very active kids, I was dedicating so much of my time to them that I rarely treated myself to any down time just for me.  I flipped through page after page on the website and smiled from the cute names attached to each product like “Little Miss Frisky” “Tart Tootie” “Rubby Scrubby” and “Sister I’m a Poet”. Initially I started adding products to my cart, I wanted to stock my bathroom ASAP. But when I saw how many products were filling up the online cart, I realized that the company offered a Business Bundle that was only $99, a huge cost savings of what was sitting at checkout.

It only took me about 20 minutes to decide that THIS is something I want to be a part of. I didn’t need to smell, touch or try a Posh product,  I just knew that this fun pampering company made me smile and I was sure my friends would enjoy it too.

What type of background did you have? Did it involve sales or cosmetics?

I do not have a cosmetics background, though I do admit to an obsession with  Sephora. I have a BS degree in Mass Communications and have worked in several different corporate positions including Public Relations, Human Resources and Job Placement. With each of these positions I had the opportunity to interact and work with a variety of different people which helped strengthen communication skills that I feel help in all aspects of work and life.

Was it an easy or difficult decision to begin with Perfectly Posh?

It was an easy and almost natural step for me to pursue my own business.  As a stay at home Mom, the opportunity to work outside the home was not an option so to find something that was flexible and that I could manage on my personal time frame was perfect for me.

What things did you look at when deciding to start with Perfectly Posh?

I needed a product line that I not only believed in but also got me excited every time I opened the catalog.  I tell everyone that I’m not just a Posh Consultant but I’m one of their biggest customers. I personally use just about every single product in the catalog. And 5 years later, it still feels like Christmas morning when my delivery arrives and I get to open a new box of pampering!

What was your biggest struggle when you started?

Meet Bonnie Dodge, Perfectly Posh Rockstar

“I’m a Youngstown girl living in my Poshy world. I’m proud of my tough, no nonsense hometown. This small city taught me that you’re not given opportunities , it’s up to you to find them, work hard and DREAM BIG! “

My biggest struggle was finding the right balance between work and family time. I was (and still am) excited to start my work day. And because I enjoy what I do so much, it’s hard to pull myself away at the end of the day . I have a very supportive family and my kids enjoy these products just as much as I do. I keep them involved and take them to events with me so that they understand what I do and can see what it takes to run your very own business.

How long did it take for you to get your business to the point that you felt comfortable?

I don’t feel like you ever really get into a “comfortable state” when you own your business. But I think with each day and each challenge you face, you are learning and building confidence within yourself and that helps your comfort level.

When did you start with Perfectly Posh?

I started on October 6, 2011 which was day 6 of the company launch.

What accolades have you received from Perfectly Posh?

I have reached every level of leadership on the career ladder, starting out as a Protégé and double promoting that first month. I was the 6th person in the company to reach the highest level of leadership which is a Platinum Premier. I was also inducted into the Pinnacle Club in 2014 which is one of the highest honors in the company. The Pinnacle Club is comprised of the top leaders who have not only made remarkable strides in their personal business but also stand as role models for the company and their 7 core values (Fun, Energy, Respect, Creativity, Honesty, Innovation and Passion.) The members of the Pinnacle are nominated by their peers and hand selected by the Co- Founders, Ann Dalton and Andrew McBride, whom they feel can selflessly represent Posh at events and on other company matters.

How large is your current team?

I have over 16,000 team members.

What is your biggest struggle/reward with having a team of this size?

The biggest struggle is not being able to be personal connected with each and every team member. The biggest reward is watching these amazing business owners reach goals that they never thought was possible. I love reading posts and feedback on how Posh has completely changed their lives, whether it helps their family monetarily or even gives them personal satisfaction of having control of a business that’s all their own.

What has been your biggest obstacle and how did you overcome it?

My biggest obstacle is getting past the negative stigma that seems to follow the direct selling industry. Whether it’s a bad rap for having obnoxious and overbearing consultants, or the idea that these are not “real” businesses, just hobbies, it’s a daily battle to overcome.  I treat every single customer as I would want to be treated. No one wants to be in an uncomfortable position and I surely do not want to be pressured to buy something. I don’t consider myself a salesperson because I share and service customers, not so much sell. My products are all about pampering and that’s exactly how I want my customers to feel.

I am proof that this business is so much more than a hobby. I am an entrepreneur that works my business full time and my business supports my family and provides us with opportunities to enjoy family vacations, and more!

What has been your greatest reward with Perfectly Posh?

My greatest reward is the friendships I have made and connections to AMAZING like minded individuals who share the same passion I do for these FABULOUS products and entrepreneurship.

If someone is considering getting involved with a Direct Sales company, what advice would you give them?

The best piece of advice I have is that you need to be truly passionate and connected to the product you represent. Your personal passion and excitement drives your success. When you are one of your biggest customers, you understand all aspects of your business from point of purchase, to customer service, to the importance of follow up.  This is an incredible industry that can give you unlimited opportunity. But don’t ever think it’s a “get rich quick” business. When you enroll as an independent consultant, you are opening the door to entrepreneurship. It is up to you to hang the “Open for Business” sign every single morning. You can set the hours you want to work your business, but always remember that your success is driven by your efforts, and work ethic.

Where do you see yourself in 5/10 years?

The first 5 years with Posh has gone by so fast, I believe it is because I have been having so much fun with my business. I see my business growing along with the Perfectly Posh brand, touching so many more lives and heightening the awareness that everyone truly needs to take time for themselves, even if it’s just 10 minutes a day….slow down, take a breath and pamper yourself.  You deserve “me time.”

Can you predict who will be successful when a new member comes on? If so, what characteristics will tell you that?

When I see someone who is completely engaged….they dive right into the training process, share their love of the products and their “why” of getting started and immediately connect with their audience. They’re excited to get started and they  understand when you show up, you go up.

What is the quality you look for when adding a member to your team?

Not only do you need to have a strong work ethic to find success in this industry but you must also carry a positive attitude with a focus on the end result. Nothing runs flawlessly. You inevitable encounter challenges and roadblocks.  It’s the ability to keep working even if you stumble from time to time. I like Zig Ziglar’s quote, “it’s your attitude, not your aptitude, that determines your altitude.”

Why would you recommend Perfectly Posh to someone who might be considering getting into a Direct Sales Organization?

It was love at first sight for me and this love affair has grown even stronger and more exciting these past 5 years. And most importantly, your Perfectly Posh business is YOURS. You’re the Boss. Woman are the fasted growing group of entrepreneurs in the U.S.A. Posh offers you a pampering selling environment that gives you the flexibility to turn your business into whatever you want it to be.

What would you like to add that I did not ask you?

When I started my business and created my own Posh team I had an opportunity to brand it. I named my team Once Upon A Posh simply because this pampering pursuit will be different for everyone and that is what makes it so fun and exciting. I absolutely believe in Perfectly Posh’s philosophy that you can do whatever you want with your business.

This is YOUR story that you can fill with YOUR hopes, dreams and aspirations.

I will never pressure you to do anything you don’t want to do. I am here to help, train and support you. If you want to make this an amazing fairy tale, you can do it on your terms, at your pace…this is your story. And I will help you with your first chapter:))
